Process for Dip'N Dye:
when you arrive at the mill, come inside, say HI!, and purchase your skein of Texas grown, Texas spun wool/mohair blend yarn. We have a limited quantity available, 50 skeins of 50/50 Rambouillet/mohair blend, 200 yards, 2 ply, sport weight. Skeins are $25.00 each, and include the indigo dyeing(If you would like to reserve a skein, please message).
Then head to the Dye Shed where your skein will be waiting in a pre-soak water bath. Show Sarah your ticket(proof of purchase),label your skein...and she will get you started!
After you dip your skein in the vat, and while it is oxidizing to beautiful blue, enjoy the dye shed, mill, have a cup of tea, sit & knit! Or, If you need to head back out on the crawl fast..can take it with you(it will be damp still, but bags available for transport).
***If natural dyeing is of interest to you,*** we will have details on our upcoming Fall Indi-goat Workshop!
Happy Crawling Y'all! Shop Small & Knit Local!
Reminders for visiting our farm/mill/dye shed for an agritourism event-
we are a working farm in a rural area- we have livestock(sheep, goats, chickens)and livestock guardian dogs, do not open gates or disturb the animals. We have typical farm insects- including bees, wasps, scorpions, spiders. Snakes can also be found. Do not put your hands or fingers in the mouths of the sheep and goats...even if they want you to!
if you bring pets or children- they must be under your control at all times. If they are not, you will be asked to leave...and yes, we have had to do just that previously. All pets must be on a leash. Please be mindful of other crawlers.
